Genre/type of book: War-Time Adventure
Goodnight Mister Tom is a story set in the time of World War Two in a small village. At that time, large cities in England were being targeted and bombed by German planes; so many children were sent away to the countryside where they would be safe.
Well, this was the case for young William ‘Willie’ Beech. This particular evacuee was taken into the care of an old, gruff gentleman by the name of Mister Tom. The story is about Willie’s and Mister Tom’s relationship, which develops and strengthens for the time they are together.
Personally this is one of my favourite reads, as due to the interesting and eventful storyline, I was never bored and was kept in the plot for the duration of the entire read. Also the gentle and easily-understandable storyline makes it a read suitable for all, that is both enjoyable and enriching
